CLAUDIA
I. GARCIA R.
I
was born in Guadalajara, Jal., Mexico, in 1969.
My first approach to art was inspired by my family since one of my uncles (my mother's youngest brother)
is a professional artist who has exhibited his
art in different galleries, not only in Mexico, but
USA and Japan (besides owning his own art galleries.)
Even
though other members of my family are also artists
and/or art collectors, the influence I had from
that uncle was my inspiration to learn how to
paint since I was very young.

For
this reason, I studied in the Academy of Fine Arts
in Monterrey, N.L., Mexico, for several years.
Even
though I took classes of sculpture, I felt a lot
more comfortable painting, so I focused more in
acrylics and oils.
When
I moved to USA, I had the opportunity to meet
Kay Kephart, an art teacher for 15 years, who
taught me new techniques and styles. She had the
privilege of taking classes with the famous painter
Helen Van Wik, helping me to learn also some of
the techniques used by this late artist who I
really admire.

| If
I have to describe my art in three words that would
be: simple, clean and colorful. Although my oil
paintings are more realistic and serious, when I
paint with acrylics I am more oriented to Folk Art,
especially girls, angels and fairies, which I find
them to project innocence, peace and joy.
I
love to use my art to bring a pleasant feeling
to the people; there is nothing that makes me
happier than being able to have others enjoy my
art as much as I did when I created it. Being
able to communicate this feeling is the main reason
why I am and want to be an artist for the rest
of my life.
